The armenian baritone Aram Ohanian had his bachelor degree in classical singing at the Yerevan state conservatory and started his first operatic roles in Yerevan, singing roles such as Gianni Schicchi in “Gianni Schicchi” Figaro in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” and many others.
In 2008 he sang the role of Enrico in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” in the national theater for ballet and opera in Yerevan and in 2009 Aram debuted in the role of Don Giovanni on the same stage.
2011-2013 Aram studied early music in the famous Scola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel with Prof. Ulrich Messthaler, and graduated succesfully with a master’s degree in baroque-romantic music, there he had the chance to have masterclasses with celebrated musicians such as Alessandro de Marchi, Margreet Honig and many others.
In 2013 Aram participated in an open air production of the opera “Le Huron” from the french composer André Grétry, with the conductor Andreas Reize and the orchestra Cantus Firmus in Solothurn’s Schloss Waldegg.
In the year 2014 Aram sang one more time the role of Don Giovanni in Mozart’s opera “Don Giovanni” at the festival Ticino musica in Lugano and Ascona.
From 2013 to 2015 he studied at the swiss opera studio in Biel, portraying operatic roles such as Procolo in Donizetti’s “Convenienze e inconvenienze teatrali” and the Game-keeper in Dvořák’s opera “Rusalka” and graduated with excellence.
In 2015 Aram won the first prize in the singing competition of the Elvira-Lüthi-Wegmann Stiftung.
Since 2015 Aram appears regularly on the stage of the Theater Biel-Solothurn.
